“I am starting to think about a move back to the Southern Hemisphere, when is the right time to engage with a recruiter?”
One of the questions I get asked a lot from NZ and Australian citizens based overseas is when is the right time to engage with a recruiter. My answer is always, as soon as you know you are making the move home.
How long does it take to find a job in NZ or Australia
Firms will wait up to 4 months once a contract is signed for you to start. It can take a couple of months to work through securing a role and contract negotiations. But it is never too early to start building a relationship with your chosen recruiter. Conversations early on in the decision-making process will help you to understand the market, your market worth, the process and the timeline. This also means we take the time to explore timescales, action plans and market changes. We understand your motivations for the move, what you are looking for from the firm you join and the role that you want to secure. We are then able to keep you up to date with any market changes or exceptional opportunities that arise.
Tyler Wren provides candidates with tailored jobs. And it is very much a 2-way process to find you the best opportunities in your area of the market. We have “live” opportunities, but the majority of candidates we place are in roles that were not even advertised. Tyler Wren have built relationships with law firms who trust us to work with them. We present them with quality and experienced offshore candidates we know will fit into their firm. They then talk to us about whether roles they are recruiting could flex in terms of PQE they could work with. We talk about opportunities they may have coming up or specific work becoming available. Opportunities that are not even in the marketplace yet.
The right time to engage with a recruiter is now
So if a move is in your mind, don’t delay and get in touch to start the conversation.
