How’s work going?

This is something friends and family ask us virtually every time we see each other. But if you tense up at that question or try to avoid answering it, then maybe it’s time for you to do a career WOF. At Tyler Wren, we recommend you carry out a job check at least once a year. A job warrant of fitness could make you a more valuable worker, job candidate, or just happier in your current role.

Take some time to do your own performance review. Ask yourself what you love most about your work. If there was something you could change about your work, what do you think would it be? If you dream of doing something completely different, what would that be?

Here are some questions to get you started.

• Have I taken on new responsibilities this year?
• Have I been asked to be part of any special projects this year?
• Have I received a bonus this year?
• Have I received a pay increase this year?
• Have I received any other benefits this year?
• Have I been considered for a promotion this year?
• Have my duties and responsibilities increased this year?
• Do I have a good relationship with my team?
• Do I have a good relationship with my manager?
• Do I have a good relationship with wider business personnel?
• Does senior management know my profile?
• Have I had to work overtime this year?
• Is my job still challenging me?
• Do my days go fast?
• Is my workload manageable?
• Do I enjoy my job overall? 
• Has something changed in my job?
• Do I need something to change in my job?
• Am I proud of who I work for?
• Am I proud of what I do?
• Do I know the company plans for the next 12 months?

If you had a hard time answering these questions, or you have come up with a long list of replies, then it might be time for a career move.
